- Hector's body is miraculously healed. Suggests that fighting isn't the solution.
- They come across a greek soldier that is actually God Hermes. The God is there to guide them to Achilles hut.
- Hecuba is conservative and doesn't want priam doing silly things.
- Hermes shields them by allowing them to enter. Enter through gate.

Revenge
- Achilles elicits revenge by killing hector. Knows the weak spot in his armour.
- Achilles then proceeds to mutilate the body of hector.
- Priam gets killed by Achilles son (neoptolemus)
- Revenge didn't bring closure, because Achilles felt the need to further inflict the body.

Guilt
- Neoptolemus has grief and guilt for killing Priam
- Achilles was letting down his nation by sulking and not going to work.
- Don't mutilate the body of Patroclus.His body was protected. Achilles should have been doing that but instead he was at home sulking.
- Priam felt guilty for not doing anything about Hector when he was alive.
- Achilles is relieved from guilt and tension when he forgives priam and let him have the body. Progress is made.

- Priam restores and finds himself by connecting with the ordinary world.
- Achilles loses humanity when he is filled with grief and anger
- The two men agree to have an eleven day truce for Hectors funeral.

- Achilles hold a ritual for hector's body
- Achilles doesn't forgive himself for letting Patroclus go into battle with his armour.

- Priam and Achilles as kings
- Priam is intrigued by the small details of everyday life.
- Immortal horses. Recover every day.
Life/death
- killing people due to resentments
- Priam wants to be remembered
- Hectors killed patroclus thinking that he is Achilles
- Achilles kills hector
- Hector prophesied with his dying breath that Achilles would be soon to die.
- Watching him die is like seeing himself killed a second time.

Gender
- Hecuba represents what a mother was like. She is caring and understanding about what has happened. But she doesn't forgive Achilles.
Grief
- Achilles is attempt to compensate for his grief by mutilating Hector's body.
- The eleven days of mourning didn't not solve or dampen the grief.
- Achilles feels loss for his mother because he couldn't' visit her or see her. Hasn't had her presence for ages. Still connected to water as that is her element.
- Achilles was upset because his housemaid was taken. He was sulking. Didn't want to join war. Refuse to battle.
Journey
- The journey rejuvenates Priam
- Priam had to wait until 3 so that battle was over for the day befroe beginning jounry.
Strength
- Royalty carriers strength
Heroism
- 'Priam's act wasn't reality out of heroism, he just wanted to be remembered.Selfishness
Belief
- People don't believe Somax's story.
- Somax doesn't appeal in illidead.
He is a vehicle for malouf to make comments in the value of storytelling and the need for that reaidition.
- May forget the people, but remember the stories.

- Priam had to change his approach
- Priam breaks free from the traditional idea of being a king.
- Priam was determined to change who he is.
