Functions:
Bones:
Expecific bones:
Parts of Skeletal System:
The only organ of the Skeletal System are the bones. But this System also contains structures that protect and cinnect the bone, that are called joints and ligaments.
To give body shape and support.
To protect internal organs.
To provide a scaffolding (support) for the muscles, allowing movement.
To store minerals.
To produce blood cells.
Are living things, because they are made with cells, they reproduce, they respond to changes, they use energy and they grow and develop.
Structure of the bones:
Cartilage:
Joints:
Ligaments:
The structures that made the bone are: COMPACT BONE, BONE MARROW (that produce blood cells), SPONGY BONE and OUTER MEMBRANE.
A tissue that protects the end of the bones.
Is where two or more bones meet.
Tipes of Movable Joints:
Hinge:
Pivot
Ball and socket:
Allows bones to move and Rotate in nearly all the directions. Ex: Hips and shoulders.
Allows bones to move back and forth in a single direction. Ex: Fingers, Elbowls and Knees.
Allows bones to rotate. Ex: Neck and Arm (below thw elbow)
It is a tissue that connects the bones.
Arms:
Hips and legs:
Humerus, Ulna and Radius.
Femur, Fibula and Tibia
Gliding:
Allows the bones to glide past one another in any direction along the plane of the joint. Ex: Wrists and Ankles
