1600-Settlements are starting to come together and books and literature are starting to be published .
1640 The first book is printed in North America, The Bay Psalm Book
1650 Slavery is legalized in Connecticut and introduced to the other colonies
September/October 1621 The first Thanksgiving was held between the piligrims and members of the Wampanoag tribe
1690 -The first newspaper issue in North America publishes in Boston. It was suppressed after its initial issue and the publication of a regular newspaper would not begin again until 1704.

1540-1541- The first war between native americans and europeans in the southwest occurs between troops of Coronado and the Tiwa Indians
