6th Hizer History of North America 1400-1700
1700- In the years of the 1700s much war broke out . During this time the nation was being developed. Many treaties and acts were signed so that life could be more simple.
The Boston Massacre was a deadly riot that happened on March 5,1770. This paved the way for the American revolution.
The Treaty of Paris was a treaty that ended The Revolutionary War. It was singed by King George The 3rd on September 3, 1783.
The Stamp Act was a document that stated all newsletters and important document must have a stamp.
The Boston Tea Party was a protest by the sons of liberty that took place at the Boston harbor. They dumbed gallons of tea into the harber. This took place on December 16, 1773.
The seven year war got its name because it lasted 7 years. It was fought by over 5 continents.
1600- In the 1600s people started coming over to America. They started to establish settlements and created the first American newspaper .
1640 The first book is printed in North American, The Bay Psalm Book.
1650 Slavery is legalized in Connecticut and introduced to the other colonies.
September/October 1621 The first Thanksgiving was held between the pilgrims and members of the Wampanoag tribe.
1690- The first newspaper issues in North America publishes in Boston. It was suppressed after its initial issues and the publication of a regular newspaper would not begin again until 1704.
Three ships landed in Jamestown, first english establishment.
1400- Exploration of the Western Hemisphere began. This was the time when Christopher Columbus found America.
1497- John Cabot explores Northeast coast.
1492- Christopher Columbus found America.
1496- King Henry Vll sings an agreement to explore western Hemisphere.
1498- John Cabot leads another exploration.
1494- Treaty of Tordesillas, Spain and Portugal clarify land ownership in North America.
1500- A small amount of people started coming to America and exploring new places. They learned that people had already been there long before them and had already called it their home. Fighting started due to this.
June 22, 1564- French explorer Rene de Laudonniere arrived at Floridas St. Johns River, establishing a French colony for the Hugeanots at Fort Caroline near Jacksonville, and befriending the Timucua.
1564-1565- The first known painting in America Indians by european colonists is made by French artist Jacques le Moyne.
1540-1541- The first war between native Americans and Europeans in the Southwest occurs between troops of Coronado and the Tiwa Indians.
June 6, 1586- The city of St. Augustine, Florida is razed by Francis Drake.
March 4, 1513- Ponce de Leon leaves Puerto Rico to explore the coast of Florida, looking for the Fountain of Youth. There were two hundred men and three ships undertaking the exploration.
