Definition
The starting point of the HRD and training process
Process by which HRD needs are identified and articulated
Purpose is to identify
Discrepancies or gaps between employee's skills and the skills required for effective current job performance
Discrepancies or gaps between current skills and the skills needed to perform the job successfully in the future
Organisation's goals and effectiveness in reaching these goals
The conditions under which HRD activity will occur
