Uses
Staying healthy ($400 per account under the Medisave400 limit to stay healthy with outpatient preventive care and chronic disease management)
Protect yourself against diseases
- hepatitis b vaccinations
- flu and pneumococcal vaccinations for high-risk groups like the very young, elderly, and persons with chronic medical conditions or poor immune function
Recommended heath screening
- mammograms every 2 years (women aged 50 and above)
- colonoscopies every 10 years (aged 50 and above)
Chronic disease (GPs, polyclinics and SOCs)
- outpatient treatment for 19 approved chronic conditions under the Chronic Disease Management Programme (CMDP)
- have 15% co-payment but no deductible
Starting your family (public and private hospitals, including SOCs
Couples who may need help conceiving
- $6000 for the first treatment cycle
- $5000 for the second treatment cycle
- $4000 for the third and subsequent treatment cycle
- for Assisted Conception Procedures (ACP) --> subjected to lifetime limit of $15,000 per patient
When one welcomes their new baby
- hospital charges: $450 per day, including daily ward charges, daily treatment fees, investigations and medicines
- delivery procedure: $750 for normal and $2150 for caesarean delivery
- pre-delivery expenses: additional $450 including consultations, ultrasounds, tests and medications
For repeated treatment

Outpatient intravenous antibiotic treatment: $600 per weekly cycle, up to $2400 a year
Selected drugs, services or devices:
- Anti-retroviral drugs for treatment of HIV/AIDS
- Desferrioxamine drug and blood transfusion for treatment of thalassaemia
- Immuno-suppressant drugs for patients after organ transplants
- Hyperbaric oxygen therapy
- Rental of devices for long-term oxygen therapy and infant continuous positive airway pressure therapy
Getting a medical scan
$300 per year per patient for scans needed to diagnose or treat medical conditions
- medical scans like CT or MRI scans
- not for plain x-rays or scans which are covered under other Medisave uses (cancer-related scans, scans for conditions under CDMP, pre-delivery scans)
Treatment in old age
Flexi-Medisave: $200 per year per patient for outpatient medical treatments (aged 65 and above)
- use own or spouse's Medisave (if also aged 65 and above)
- consultation fees, medical services, drugs, and tests necessary for diagnosis or treatment of a medical condition, as ordered by doctor
- does not cover dental treatment
Paying for medical and long-term care insurance (pay for own medishield life and/or eldershield premiums to have peace of mind for large medical expenses)
- medishield life and private integrated shield plans
- eldershield and eldershield supplements (use up to another $600 of medisave per year for eldershield supplements, providing additional coverage)
