Flight Principles (Drag (Induced Drag (Drag developed as a result of lift…
Flight Principles
-
Thrust
-
-
When rotating the propeller blades cause the air to flow such that the static pressure ahead of the blade is less than directly behind the blade = forward thrust on the propeller blade
-
-
Lift
Bernoulli's Principle
The velocity of the air over the top of the wing is greater than the velocity of that below the wing, resulting in a pressure variation in the air around the wing creating lift
-
Newton's 3rd Law
This change in direction occurs both below the wing due to oncoming air hitting the underside of the wing & above the wing by the condo effect
-
-
The wing creates an action force on the air redirecting it downwards & the air creates a reaction to the force pushing the wing up
Lift = weight, maintain flight
-
Angle of Attack
If the angle of attack is too steep, then the airflow will experience more disturbed air behind the plate, & less lift will be evident
