Diverticular are sacs formed at weak points in the walls of the gastrointestinal tract, which occur in main areas of the oesophagus.
- Upper part- Zenker's diverticulum
- Mid oesophageal diverticulum
- Lowe part- epiphrenic diverticulum

Pathophysiology
Large pouch may fill with food regurgitated when a person bends over or lie down. This food can be inhaled into lungs during sleep.
this causes aspiration pneumonia and may enlarge and cause dysphagia
