Animals - Nervous System
-
Reflex Action
When we do something w/o thinking &we are not in control of our action - a quick automatic response to a stimulus that is not under the control of the brain
-
If the nerves that detect the problem (eg: flame) is connected to the nerves that move muscles w/o going through the brain, response will be quicker - reflex arc
-
Reflex arcs are formed in the spinal chord itself even though the information also goes to the brain
-
Stimulus --> Sensory nerve --> Spinal Cord --> Motor nerve --> Response . This pathway is called reflex arc
Human Brain

Brain has to send messages to muscles to carry out voluntary actions such as talking, writing, clapping etc
-
The PNS consists of the cranial nerves arising from the brain & the spinal nerves arising from the spinal cord
The brain has 3 major parts - the fore brain, mid brain & hind brain
