Pathophysiology
Inflammation of the gallbladder result from irritation becomes edematous, hyperemic due to venous congestion and lymphatic stasis leading to marked gallbladder distension with bile and pus. The gallbladder is thought to be amenable to ischaemic effects, which result necrosis and sloughing of the mucosal layer. the whole process may cause gangrene and perforation of the gallbladder. severe scarring of the gallbladder may result in deficient functioning.
