DEFINATION
carcinomas are cancers that originate in the lining of the mouth or surface tissue, while sarcomas are cancers that originates in the deeper tissue.
PATHOPHYSIOLOGY
the lesion often appears on the lips or mucosa , first as a small, firm ,painless lump which persists and later breaks down into a painful ulcer.The ulcer appears indurated with raised edges. Other sites for oral cancer are the floor of the mouth, sides and under the surface of the tongue and soft palate. mouth cancers have the potential to spread to the lymph nodes of the neck or other parts of the body such as the lungs as distant metastasis
