Pathophysiology
The carcinoma and sarcomas lesion often appears on the lips or mucous membrane, firstly as a small firm painless lump which persists and later ulcerates into a painful ulcer. This occurs in the floor of the mouth, side and under the surface of the tongue and soft palate. It is rare for this condition to spread to other part of the body.
