        Drake's asking a question which has an obvious answer: No one sounds like Drake,his unique voice is how many people can distinguish him from other rappers.
        
        'Damn nigga, what's one more quote for us?'
        
        Question implies that Drake is able to put out hit songs easily because he works on his craft every day and is so used to it.
      - Repetition
        
        'Oh, Lord'
        
        Throughout the verse, Drake repeatedly uses the phrase, 'oh lord' before saying something, this makes it sound like he's talking to a superior being, like Drake has put himself on that level and is worthy of having a conversation and even bragging to a higher power.
      - Juxtaposition
        
        "I'm the Rookie and the vet'
        
        In professional sporting leagues, rookies are known as first year players, while vets (short for veterans) are experienced and have established a name for themselves in the league. Here, by calling himself a rookie and a vet, Drake takes the best of both words. Because Drake was still really young (27) at the time he wrote this song, he calls himself a rook to the rap game; but at the same time, he talks about how he's already a veteran, due to the fact he'd already put his name out there as a top rapper in the industry in a much shorter time than most other artists did.
        
        "How you so high but still so down to earth'
        
        Drake is referring to himself in third person here, he talks about how he still stays down to earth and true to his roots despite being as big as he is.
      - Allusion
        
        'I been Steph Curry with the shot
        Been cookin' with the sauce, chef, curry with the pot, boy'
        
        A reference to 2x NBA MVP Stephen Curry. Drake frequently hangs out with the superstar basketball player - a display of his popularity even among other celebrities.
        
        'Since my dad used to tell me he was comin' to the house to get me
        He ain't show up'
        
        References hist past - Drake's parents were divorced and his dad often had to cancel trips to visit him. But drake rose through that adversity and challenge by becoming more self-reliant.

        Run Forrest, run Forrest, go Forrest"
        
        Reference to the classic film Forrest Gump and its famous phrase 'run Forrest run' . Drake uses it on himself to imply that he's running the rap game, a reference to the dominance he's had on the rap scene.

        Describes an experience of Drake's with a woman who he cheated on, though cheating isn't something too great to brag about it, it does illustrate Drake's success and how it comes with women throwing themselves at him.

        Either that or drive to money mart to make the pickups
        
        Describes Drake's time when he was an actor struggling to earn a decent living and had to resort to phone scams with his friend Niko in their basement. Used to show how far Drake has come since his time in the TV show 'Degrassi'
    - - The tone in verse 1 is that of someone boasting quite arrogantly. Drake brags about his success in a myriad of ways and the tone in which he raps it in the song really make it feel like the whole verse is just him bragging.
    - - 'Fuck bein on some chill shit
        We go 0 to 100 nigga real quick'
        
        'Fuck bein on some chill shit' is Drake's vulgar way of saying that after putting out a track, unlike other artists, he's not going to 'chill' and rest for long because he wants to stay on the grind. The next line, 'we go 0 to 100 nigga real quick' is also a vulgar way of saying that he comes out of that short break he can produce hits in quick successions really quick.
      - 'My actions been louder than my words'
        
        This is a phrase that has been used in quite a few other rap songs and is based on the saying 'actions speak louder than words'. However, the fact that it's such a common saying doesn't take away from the truth of the saying. Drake impliess here that this proverb has worked for him as focusing on doing instead of saying, has equipped him to triumph over those who couldn't walk the talk.
      - Know your self know your worth
        
        With this line, Drake is emphasizing the importance of having confidence in oneself. By being confident in his abilities and 'know[ing] [his] worth', Drake has been able to get himself big endorsement deals like Sprite and the Toronto Raptors.
    - - Free Verse
        
        The artist uses a free verse for verse 1. This could be because it showcases his rapping ability as doing a structured rap usually doesn't sound as good and doesn't require as much skill. It could also be because it's easier to communicate and express his ideas in a free verse where he doesn't need to follow strict structures.

        'Me and Noel been at it before Twitter names'
        
        Noel is Drake's long time assistant engineer, here Drake is saying that they've been working and putting the work in for a long time - even before the invention of twitter
        
        'Feel like we paid the refs off man we fixed the game'
        
        References the incident during 2014 when an NBA referee who admitted to rigging games, claimed the NBA was favoring the nets in a playoff game against Drake's Raptors. Here he uses it to talk about his crew and how he feels the game has already been rigged for them, made easy because he's set them all up for success by paying the refs off. There aren't actually any refs in the rap game however, Drake basically implies here that things are so easy for them it feels like he had paid the refs off - but things are really easy because of all the work they'd put in together in the past.
      - Rhetorical Question
        
        'Headed where nobody took it, who meetin me there?'
        
        The answer is very clearly no, the 'it' is the rap game and Drake is saying he'll bring it somewhere that no one will ever be able to meet him at.
        
        But when they need a favor who do they call?
        
        The answer is very clearly that they call Drake, but Drake uses the question to send the message that his peers who never progress, always come back to him instead to take advantage of the success and progress he has gained and will continue to gain.
      - Simile
        
        'Yeah been on the move like the lease is up'
        
        Once a lease is done, you're forced to move. Drake uses this as his simile to imply that he's constantly moving to new places in terms of both his career and rap style.
      - Metaphor
        
        They say the shoe can always fit, no matter whose foot it's on
        These days feel like I'm squeezin' in 'em
        Whoever wore 'em before just wasn't thinkin' big enough
        I'm 'bout to leave 'em with 'em
        'Cause if I run in the game in these, man the seams are splittin'
        No pun intended but they're smellin' defeat in the air
        
        The shoe is being compared to the rap game. Drake is saying that his ideas are too big for those who ran the rap game in the past and that therefore the shoe can't actually fit him. He also has a pun at the end of this metaphor 'smellin defeat in the air' both implies that because his ideas are too big and the shoe can't fit, he has to run the rap game barefoot and therefore they can smell the feet in the air; and it also implies that other rappers will lose out to him because of his ambition.
- - - - This theme is found to be true in the context of the song's artist, Drake. In the first part of the song, Drake uses allusions, juxtapositions and rhetorical questions to brag about his success as an artist and how he doesn't need to rely on his rap money at all to live his luxurious life, because he's become so successful that endorsements alone can pay his bills. He also details his struggle before he became famous using concrete imagery to describe his days making money through phone scams when he was just an unknown TV actor barely getting paid more than a teacher. By showing us where he started in the entertainment industry, and how he slowly climbed up the ladder by putting work in the studio every night, Drake is a living embodiment of the power of the theme in this song - that the slow but consistent grind will eventually breed success.
        
        In today's context
        
        The themes Drake expressed in this song hold extremely true in present day August 2018, this song was released in 2014, and three years later, Drake has proven to practice what he preaches as he has become the RIAA's top certified singles artist ever.
  - - - Just like how the two titles for both parts, '0 to 100' and 'The Catch up work to explain each other, the theme of the second part is almost identical to the first and just reinforces the ideas put forth by Drake during the first part of the song. The reinforcement of the theme comes in the fact that Drake talks of his big ideas he has for the future, using allusions, similes, metaphors and rhetorical questions to explain how his work ethic will bring his ideas to life, leading to more success in the future.
      - Drake also touches on the topic of the people who slack, he uses a rhetorical question to discuss how they often come back to asking him for help. This relates to the theme because he's showing how if you don't put the work in, you won't ever get far, and as the title says, 'catch up' to those already ahead of you.
- - - - The artist of this song, Drake; was a very famous Canadian rapper at the time of this song's release (2014) and has since gained even more popularity with tremendously successful singles and albums.
    - - Drake grew up in a decently affluent Jewish neighborhood in Toronto, but his parents had gotten a divorce when he was 5 and he was raised by his single mother, a white Canadian Jew. He rarely got to see his dad, a black catholic man as his father would always have to cancel on him despite making promises to visit. In High school, Drake found a friend who's father was an agent. His friend's father told him that if anyone could make him laugh, they could audition for him'. So Drake auditioned and got himself an agent. Eventually Drake would land a role on a Canadian drama called Degrassi and that was his gateway into the entertainment industry.
