      - Surah 24:11-13: verily those who brought forth the slander (against Aisha) are a group among you…. Why then, did not the believers, men and women, when you heard (the slander) think good of their own people and say: “This is surely an obvious lie?”
    - - The reference to four witnesses is subsequently used as precedent by Muslims jurists (specialised Imams) today in developing Shari’a i.e. No adultery can be proved unless four witnesses can be found.
