Like the matrix, The Truman Show features 2 worlds, one being Truman's world in which Truman's life is captured and the other being the "real world" which is everything that takes places behind the cameras of Truman's worlds. In Truman's world, a light brown saturation is used to add accent and tone down the overwhelming amount of pastel colour, giving the audience a stereotypical 50s small town feel. The editors choice of a yellow-orange hue allowing pastel colours to appear brighter than they actually are and giving off a warm and welcoming feeling to them, lulling the audience into a false sense of security while the "real world" much like the matrix uses darker saturations and hues such as blue's and grey, giving the audience and gritty and dark feeling, reminds the audience of the type of "reality" Truman has. a reality built of lies, misdirection and the control the director and production company have over Truman and his perception of reality. with the switches between the brown saturations and pastel colours of Truman's world and the dark and gritty blue and grey saturations of the "real world" in a way forces the audience to empathise with Truman.
