Comminuted
Multiple linear fractures with fragmentation of bone into many pieces . Caused by direct, high impact

COMPLICATIONS
Epidural haematoma

A neurological emergency - usually associated with linear fracture crossing major artery in the dura - causing a tear.
Signs and symptoms
initial period of unconsciousness, LOC, headache, nausea, vomiting.

Subdural haematoma

May be acute, subacute or chronic
intercerebral haematoma

Usually occurs in frontal and temporal lobes, possible from rupture of intracerebral vessels at the time of injury.
