Method to prevent
Environment - only equipotential earthing in an area will reduce the risk by reducing the potential for leakage current due to small difference in earth potential (cardiac protected areas)

Patient connection - microshock can be reduced if the impedence of the leads connecting the patient to the monitor is extremely high. This prevents up to 50microA passing down even if there is earth failure of eqpt.
