Relations and functions
Relations
Coordinate System
In a pair of coordinates, the X will always be on the left and the Y will always be on the left.
Input, relation, output
-
The output is the dependent variable, it's value is based off of the input, or the dependent variable.
-
Function
A function can also be determined depending on the number of inputs in relation to the number of outputs. For a set of points to be a function, one input cannot have more than 1 output. Meaning each x must have a unique y.
A function can be determined by the vertical line test, where if there are 2 points touching a straight edge when placed vertically, the line fails the test, however, if there is at most 1 point touching the vertical line at one time, the line passes the test.
One to one functions.
One to one functions, these kinds of functions require a line or a set of dots to pass both a vertical and horizontal line test. For a function to be a one to one function each x must have a unique y, and each y must have a unique x.
Linear Equations
A linear equation means that the dots or lines must travel in a straight line, or a non changing direction.
Non Linear Equations
Non linear means that the lines, or dots don't have to travel in a straight line, and can curve or turn at any point.
Real Numbers
Number Systems
Real, irrational, rational, integer, whole and natural.

Greatest Common Factor(GCF). e.g., the GCF of 8 and 2 is 2.
Squares and square roots
e.g., 2 squared is 4, 4 square rooted is 2.

Slope, rise over run, and constant rate of change
