Anaphylactic Shock: is a distributive shock of acute hypersensitivity or allergic reaction to a certain substance. Food, drugs, insect venom to name a few. These substances cause rapid vasodilation, prompting a release of vasoactive mediators, which increases capillary permeability. An increase of this leads to the overflow of fluid from the vascular space through to the interstitial space. A patient may experience respiratory distress with a sudden onset of symptoms, these include: dizziness, swelling of the lips and tongue, chest pain and wheezing.
