Circulatory System

Heart beat rhythem
First electrical impulse spreads to walls of atria causing contractions simultaneously, during atrial contraction the elec. impulses reach the AV Node that delays elect. impulse by a tenth of a second. This delay allows atria to empty completely before the ventricles contract. After the delay the electrical impulse spreads to heart apex , the spreads to ventricles that contract simultaneously.

Pacemaker cells in the AV node intrinsically controls heart contraction, Sinoatrial node- PCells are autorhythmic

Route of blood flow
Starting at the right atrium of the heart, deoxygenated blood is excepted from the systematic circuit. The blood then goes from the right atrium to the right ventricle to be transported from the right ventricle through the pulmonary arteries to be oxygenated in the capillary beds present in the lungs. After the blood is oxygenated it is returned to the heart through the pulmonary veins into the left atrium within the heart. The oxygenated blood then flows from the left atrium to the left ventricle to be pumped out through the aorta. The aorta pumps blood into arterioles that supply blood to the capillary beds present in the body tissues. After the nutrients and oxygen has been diffused into the body tissue the deoxygenated blood finally returns to the right atrium through the vena cava (veins).
