PERSONAL COMPUTER SYSTEM
VGA PORT
-
The 15-pin VGA connector was provided on many video cards, computer monitors, laptop computers, projectors, and high definition television sets.
SERIAL PORT
a serial communication interface through which information transfers in or out one bit at a time (in contrast to a parallel port). Personal computers, data was transferred through serial ports to devices such as modems, terminals, and various peripherals.
-
PARALLEL PORT
-
Parallel ports send multiple bits of data at once, in parallel communication, as opposed to serial interfaces that send bits one at a time. Parallel ports require multiple data lines in their cables and port connectors, and tend to be larger than contemporary serial ports .
UNIVERSAL SERIAL BUS (USB) PORT
an industry standard that establishes specifications for cables, connectors and protocols for connection, communication, and power supply between personal computers and their peripheral devices .
-
FIREWIRE PORT
-
an interface standard for a serial bus for high-speed communications and isochronous real-time data transfer.
CPU
the electronic circuitry within a computer that carries out the instructions of a computer program by performing the basic arithmetic, logical, control and input/output (I/O) operations specified by the instructions
-
ETHERNET PORT
-
an opening on computer network equipment that Ethernet cables plug into. Their purpose is to connect wired network hardware in an Ethernet LAN, metropolitan area network (MAN), or wide area network (WAN).
GRAPHIC CARDS
-
-
OPTICAL DRIVES
-
an optical disk drive (ODD) uses a laser light to read data from or write data to an optical disc. This allows you to play music or watch movies using pre-recorded discs.
HARD DRIVES
-
an electromechanical data storage device that uses magnetic storage to store and retrieve digital information using one or more rigid rapidly rotating disks (platters) coated with magnetic material.
