Personal Stories that have affected my Life
My Mothers illness
my mother had an unidentifiable illness that attacked her spine a couple or years ago. Before they had discovered what was wrong she was paralyzed on the right side and was losing use of her right side rapidly.
The doctors performed surgery on her neck and she has since made a complete recovery
To think that I might have lived a life without my mother scared me. I didn't want to see my mother in the hospital, I didn't want to think of her as weak. But this experience has taught so many valuable lessons.
Being faced with living a life without my mother brought out insecruties in myself that I didn't know I had
having to think and prepare for the worst made me realize that not every day is guaranteed. That I need to appreciate the people around me for who they are and what they do for me
Tomorrow is not guaranteed; understand that you most realize the gifts you have and be thankful for them because you never know when someone might leave
My first 4-H project
I had a market lamb; a lamb that will be eaten; at the end of the year we sell lambs at an auction. I was not prepared to sell my lamb and so I cried
I sold my lamb but the people who bought it gave it back to me.
This experience changed how I view the world. Before this Ii wanted to be a nurse but as my compassion for animals grew I decided to become a vet
Understanding how it felt to not be in control of the future; specifically my lambs future; made me realized that I could prepare myself and help shape my future by doing little things every day
Understanding that I needed to become okay with the fact that I would have to say goodbye to my lamb each year allowed me a chance to prepare myself for future experiences
Never Meeting my Gran
My fathers mother died a couple of months before I was born. I never met her.
I think a lot about what my life would have been like if my Gran was still around today
; I wouldn't have my cousins from my grandpa's second marriage
I wouldn't have the same name; I am named after my Gran her name was
Anna
and my name is Rhi
anna
h
This experience has taught me that even though something happens that may not be what you want, there is always a silver linning
Be forever greatful for where you are and how you got there because you wouldn't be the person you are today without the journey
