- - - - As a teacher, we need to be aware of what we're getting into. We must understand that teaching isn't one of the highest paying jobs and that it comes with a lot of work and responsibility, in which we are held to. We as teachers may be seen just as glorified babysitters (something that I heard someone say about teachers), however, we are a pillar of the community. We are held to standards by others that others may not have to follow in the community, however, do not let that discourage you. We constantly have to be aware of how our actions affect our reputation. Although it's a lot of pressure and has additional struggles, we know that being a teacher comes with great rewards for helping and making a difference in the lives that we touch.
- - - - Will this be something we teach in our own classrooms?
        
        My personal belief is that we should be teaching morals within the classroom. We should also be striving for the harmony of race, gender, sexual orientation, religion, etc. We should be teaching our students that it is okay to be different and not to be afraid or hateful towards other students that are different from them. We should definitely do our best to practice equality of opportunity in the classroom, and do our best to try not to show favoritism towards a specific group of students, but accept all students as they are while pouring insight, knowledge, and wisdom into our students.
  - - - How does this impact my teaching?
        
        Personally, I don't like the idea of teaching to test or teaching just so that our students can compete in a global market/economy. Personally, I want to teach my students skills they can apply towards life, outside of just school and the global market. For some students, they don't go to college or want to go into some global market job. Some maybe, want to make a career out of making Youtube videos or writing novels. I think teaching skills such as critical thinking or being open to different perspectives are skills that EVERYBODY could use. These are things that I would like to teach my students rather than just teaching to test.
  - - - What role does this play in teaching foreign/ELL students?
        
        I think that it is definitely important to teach foreign students about American culture, however, I believe it is just as important to acknowledge and invite their culture into the classroom. We do not want students from other countries and cultures feeling as if they should be embarrassed about their culture, but rather, they should feel proud of their culture. This is what and how we should be teaching our ELL students, as well as teaching our other students to be tolerant towards people from other cultures.
  - - - How will this impact our curriculum by which we teach?
        
        Whatever the crisis may be within and outside of the classroom, we should do our best to address the situation and be honest towards our students. We need to inform our students and be willing to open to questions that they may have such as events like school shootings, bullying, health, stress, etc. We should not force our students to keep it to themselves just because our curriculum says that we don't have time for it. We need to make sure that we put our students first and show them that we care about them and their well-being.
