Eddie's Father://The author never reveals Eddie's father's name. Out of Eddie's family, Eddie's father had the biggest impact on his son's life. He worked in maintenance at Ruby Pier. He thinks Eddie doesnt have what it takes to take after the blue-collar roots. Eddie's father drank a lot and often abusive towards his wife and children. Sometimes he was nice, but that was not often. Eddie's father died after a drunken accident in the ocean, and getting pneumonia leaving Eddie's mother's life In blankness that Eddie had no choice but to fill. Eventually, Eddie took on the same job his father had at Ruby Pier. Eddie forgives his father after his third meeting in Heaven gives him a new point of view on the old man's death.

Eddie's Mother:// the author doesn't reveal her name. Eddie mother cared for him and his brother deeply. Also giving them some type of relationship with their abusive father. She tries to make things right between Eddie and His Father but failed. Her heart was so broken when Eddie's father died. She made herself ill blaming herself for his death. Soon after that, Eddie and Maguerite moves in with Eddie's mother to care for her.
Joe:// is Eddie's older brother. When they were younger Eddie was always physically stronger than Joe and even helped him when Joe got into a fight.
Unlike Eddie, Joe was rejected from the army. The war left Eddie with issues and burdens to carry, while Joe had was a successful sales career. Joe dies before Eddie.

The Blue Man:// is the 1st of Eddie's five people. Eddie didn't really know him. He remembers him from his childhood. In heaven the Blue Man shares his story with Eddie. When the Blue Man was little, he overdosed on a medication a pharmacist prescribed for his bedwetting habit, and is the reason his skin is permanently blue. The Blue Man explains to Eddie that his heaven is Ruby Pier. Later, Eddie learns that he is the reason for the Blue Man's death. He died in the accident, missing Eddie's car, and died after the shock of the crash.

Tala:// is Eddie's 5th person. After Eddie escaped from the people who captured him, they set the place they were captured in on fire. Eddie believed he saw a small child and went in to tried to save her. Before he could save her he was shot in the leg by the captain to keep him from entering. In heaven Eddie finds out that Tala was the one in the fire and she died that day. Tala comforts Eddie as he cries. The lesson Tala teaches Eddie is that he has a purpose to live.

Ruby:// is the 3rd of Eddie's five people. She explains to Eddie that she was married to the man who created Ruby Pier. After Ruby Pier was destroyed in a fire her husband was in bad shape physically and in trouble financially.

The Captain:// is the 2nd of Eddie's five people. Captain was Eddie's Commanding Officer in the Army and he was also captured with Eddie. The Captain comes from 3 generations of military men. He made a promise to never leave a man behind. He confesses to Eddie that he was the one who shot him in the leg. He also shares with him that he died too after stepping on a landmine trying to get Eddie to safety. The lesson the Captain teaches Eddie is sacrifice.

Mickey:// is one of Eddie's red threads. He is a close friend of Eddie's father when he was a little boy. Mickey gave Eddie's father money to help them, and helped him get a job at Ruby Pier. Eddie only remembers Mickey as a drunken man. Eddie finds out that the reason Mickey jumped in the ocean was because his father caught him trying to rape Eddie's mother. Instead of letting him die, Eddie's father saved Mickey. After that Eddie's father died from pneumonia.

Maguerite:// is Eddie's Wife and the 4th of Eddie's five people. Eddie and Marguerite fell in love at Ruby Pier when they were teenagers. They stayed together when Eddie was in the military. She stayed with at during his recovery and had a positive impact in his life. Eddie and Marguerite got married but never had children. Eddie ruined their chances at adoption. Marguerite got in a car accident while driving to apologize to him after a fight, and the following medical costs meant that they couldnt afford to adopt a child anymore. Marguerite died at the age of 56 from a brain tumor, leaving Eddie empty. When they see each other in Heaven, Marguerite explains to Eddie that she never stopped loving him, even after she died.

Noel:// is another one of Eddie's reed threads. Noel and Eddie was best friends. They use to go to races and bet money on who was going to win. They grew apart after the racing led to Marguerite's car accident.
