Black Cylinder Experiment
WHITE HAT
We are missing basic background information that would help develop our answer
Is the can full or empty?
Are there any outside factors that could influence the can such as wind?
Is the can set on a flat surface?
There is no factual information provided as to why the can would fall over?
YELLOW HAT
The experiment could technically be replicated using different methods to find an answer as to why the can tipped over
Forces you to think outside the box and develop other sources of thinking skills
GREEN HAT
What experiments could we try to determine why the can fell over?
Could research from other sources help determine our answer? Such as similar experiments on the internet?
Could the can have tipped over due to a scientific reason such as gas built up?
What did the can sound like when it fell? Did it sound full or empty?
Is this experiment limited to just the can shown in the video provided? Or could it be re-done using a different type and colour cylinder?
BLUE HAT
The only decision reached so far is that something has been done to the can and it did not just fall on its own
The next step would be to pick several possibilities and replicate the experiment by altering the can by adding a weight, putting the can on a unbalanced surface, and adding an environmental factor such as wind or heat.
BLACK HAT
We cannot physically touch the can in the video to and we cannot hear the sound the can makes when it falls to know if it has been altered or not
We can use different suggestions from the blue and green hat to find a reasoning but it is not certain that the can will react the same or that we have have been implementing the correct solution at all
It is unsure if we should be focusing on the video provided or if we should be focusing on the idea of a can falling over in general
RED HAT
I have a hunch that the can has been emptied and weighted on the one side to make it fall over due to the appearance of the seam of the can in the video.
My intuition is that the can has obviously been altered / tampered with in some way since it is simply unnatural for a can to fall several times on its own.
I feel that if we have more supplementary information regarding the can, that it would easier to find a solid solution
