His newest owner was Dr. Emerson, who eventually died leaving everything to his wife
Dred Scott wanted to buy his way out, but failed, so then made a case in court with the help of the sons of former masters. The case does not work out due to judge Taney considered him as property.
Dred Scott was a slave who was sold twice, and moved to Wisconsin, then back to Illinois.
