Connections
In the play, the characters always find joy in simple things in their lives, despite the bland and uneventful nature of their small town.
The characters act under the influence of the stage manager, not only for the structure and set up of the play but in the actual plot and story as well
Throughout the play, it is evident that a community has expectations such as Love and Marriage as shown in Grover's Corners.
As time passes quickly, the characters seem to be powerless to it's power.
-
Ruled Out
He takes on the role as Mr Morgan, again acting as a character rather than a narrator
Rain symbolizes death
We ruled this out because we found that the rain isn't a symbol of death but instead it shows that they fall in the routine of always bringing up the weather.
The Stage Manager acts more as a character than a narrator, constantly interacting with the other characters (his interaction doesn't pertain to the suspect and how the characters fall to routine)
-
"I don't see how he could give up a thing like that just to get married. Would you, Howie?
This was ruled out, because although this relates to marriage, this doesn't support how marriage relates to routine life
-
"If a person starts out to be a teacher, she ought to stay one
ruled out, because although it refers to the desire for a constant purpose in life, it doesn't refer to a routine life.
