Sooners dad helped because he broke sooners collarbone which took the rest of his high school season away
rudy contribution was helping ben think by telling him about his life and how he was a child molester that hated being one. ben wanted to help but in the end rudy takes his own life

which do I like more? Why?
I like Ben more because hes a tough dude. he finds out he is going to die and instead of crying right away or freaking out he is calm and knows what he is going to be doing his senior year. he plays football and is good at it in fact he caught a game winning touchdown. He gets the girl of his dreams, but then people start leaving him like marla, she said she felt like she couldn't breath. Dallas leaves because she feels that he betrayed her for not telling her right away about his problem.
which is a more well rounded person
Ben is the more well rounded Because he is a very smart kid and has a good future in front of him. He ran cross-country and was good at that. But when he finds out he only has untill the end of the school year to live he joins the football team with his bigger younger brother. He is great at football coach called him his "little big hitter". Ben is aslo great at giving speeches and arguing with teachers.
