        The benefits of obtaining a professional degree in library science boils down to the perceived credibility of the librarian, in the eyes of the faculty at a college or university (Ridley, 2018).
      - An MLS can be seen by some as insufficient for the needs of the position, so over a third of academic librarians also possess a second master's degree (Ridley, 2018).
