Definition

Occurs commonly along the right border of the gastro-oesophageal junction where the oesophagus meets the stomach (joins).

Pathophysiology
-
Cause from secondary causes from a sudden increase in intraabdominal pressure = sudden rise in pressure at the gastro-oesophageal junction - ie: retching, vomiting, coughing or straining.
