13.6 pulmonary circuit
-
-
-
-
blood enters from right atrium-then enters pulmonary trunk-in this circuit oxygen is replenished and carbon dioxide is released
-
13.7 Systemic Circuit
Systemic Arteries
aortic arch
three elastic arteries deliver blood to neck, shoulders, upper limbs:
-
-
-
ascending aorta
begins at semilunar valve at the left ventricle-aortic arch curves across the superior surface of the heart-then connects with descending aorta
Systemic Veins
-
Superior Vena Cava
receives blood from upper limbs, shoulders, chest, head and neck
Hepatic Portal System:
instead of traveling through inferior vena cava, blood leaving capillaries supplied by celiac, superior, inferior flows through liver
-
13.8 Fetal Circulation
fetal circulation
-
ductus arteriosus-short, muscular vessel between pulmonary and aortic trunks
changes at birth
-
if changes are not rapid, major issues will follow

Kahoot
13.4-13.10
-
after passing axilla, axillary artery becomes the brachial artery
-
-
-
-
-
vertebrae L4, the aorta branches from the common iliac arteries
-
-
-
after recieving the internal jugular vein, subclavian vein becomes the brachiocephalic vein

13.2
-
transfusion methods include: osmosis, filtration, diffusion
blood moves through veins with aid of cavity change pressure, contractions of skeletal muscles, pressure in veins lower than arteries
-
-
-
-
pressure differences, viscosity of blood, amount of friction in blood vessels affect blood flow
