Risk- endangerment or vulnerability to negative developmental outcomes- kids at risk are more likely to drop out of school, abuse substances, be unemployed, etc.
Resilience- ability to withstand and rebound from crises or persistent challenges. Kids are more likely to have close friends, be in families with supportive marriages, attain higher education, etc.
Learned helplessness- the perception, acquired through negative experiences, that effort has not effect on outcome.
