I personally have gone through this many times and found ways to adjust on how I approach it.\The biggest part in self-disclosure I think is the risk and trust characteristic. After many years of friendship and the small increments of gaining the trust, I usually end up opening up to that certain person who I feel is trustworthy enough. As I am writing this, I am thinking about my great friend Brittaney who I can trust dearly with all my heart because I found a way to disclose myself to her and she did the same to me. We certainly have gotten a lot closer to each other and can relate to each other constantly. Self-disclosure can be scary but it can definitely be a positive thing if it turns out right.
