Pathophysiology

Tumour in pancreatic islet cells,
often benign rather than malignant
Secretes insulin, lowering blood sugar
and risking hypoglycaemia
Excretion of endogenous insulin results in
high C-peptide levels, which normally feeds
back to suppress insulin secretion
