Genetic Engineering in Humans
Chinese scientists modified human embryos in a very traditional place, which caused more controversy than in a place where it would be more accepted.
Are ethical lines being
crossed? Scientists and
engineers have
continued to
debate this
with the public.
With new technology comes new rules and regulations the public want to be made so it doesn't become a free-for-all for scientists.
Is the public ready for this?
Even doctors, engineers,
and other scientists
feel that this idea
is going too far causing
debates between them.
Many articles have
been written about
the possibility of
human cloning,
which people don't
seem ready for.
Designer Babies (multiple sites and info on it): many websites about how science and new technology is making it possible to customize their children before birth by editing their genome.
Science has always
caused controversy, but this
crosses a huge line for many
people, even though
they aren't very informed
on the topic (not much on social media, however Huffington Post, NPR, and other popular sources have talked about it).
How much is too much
information people are
allowed to have about us?
New technology allows
a map of your genome
to be made and stored.
Nature, Advanced Materials, and other scientific journals/magazines are good sources to use. Colleges and universities also do good research about it that are published in places like European Journal of Experimental Biology.
