Consumers who oppose genetic modification of agricultural products. Non-GMO project In addition, there are organizations within states and even different countries like "Just Label It" from Orlando, Florida and "Yo No Quiero Transgenicos" in Chile.

Consumers who are not opposed to GMOs. Generally, there are no major organizations who advocate for GMOs. This group usually remains unbiased.

Major seed producing companies, like Monsanto. Brett Begemann is the president and chief operating officer of Monsanto.

Where are these speakers making Public Speech Acts?

Those opposed to GMOs talk generally in blogs and forums. Sometimes, they share their ideas in magazine articles

Those who are not opposed are generally unbiased. Their public speech appears in news articles and sometimes academic journals.

Brett Begemann gives public speeches advocating for his company. He spoke in 2014 at the Aspen Festival of Ideas in Colorado about the company's vision and work

What is being publicly said?

Consumers opposed usually talk about the risks, detriment and harm they cause. They also advocate for alternative products , like natural or organic food.

The unbiased group, or consumers who don't necessarily oppose GMOs usually impose studies about other consumers and even challenge the supposed "risks" of GMOs.

Monsanto tries to focus on the vision of their company. In Begemann's speech at Aspen, he explains how Monsanto benefits agriculture. In addition, he doesn't try to force his views onto others.

Values and Ideology of Each Group

Consumers opposed to GMOs believe in personal health and naturalism. In addition, they are concerned about the welfare of not only themselves but others and the environment as well.

Consumers unbiased, or who advocate GMOs believe in the benefit they provide. Generally, they feel as if there is not enough evidence to prove GMOs as "bad"

Monsanto believes in the benefits of GMOs. The company feels as if they are creating more sustainable means of farming and providing a quicker solution to cross breeding of plants and animals.
