According to the Globe and Mail, it seems that Dr. Paraskevas cannot hide the benefits that social media can bring to the organ donor network, since there is always a vast number of people needing organs and not enough people willing to donate. Laws can also get in the way of people donating organs since some nations involve having a blood relative donate to you.

Eurotransplant Organization
Germany, The Netherlands, Austria, Belgium, Croatia, Hungary, Luxembourg, and Slovenia are all members of this organization.
These government bodies believe in the ideals set up through the Eurotransplant organization. In order for their nations to abide by the regulations stated by the Eurotransplant organization, these governing bodies set up laws that regulate organ transplants.
The ideals held up by this group are more rigid and do not leave room for people to find potential organ donors through social media sites such as Facebook. It is more of a board democracy as to how the organ donors and recipients are matched up. They believe that physicians and scientists should work together to develop rules allocating who should give and receive the organs. This goes against the idea of people finding their own potential organ donors through Facebook or social media.
This article, once translated, titled, "Doctors Want 'Facebook-Kidneys' not Implanted Kidney Patients" talked about how not everyone may have access to social media, may not be as popular when it comes to followers, or may not have as compelling of a story when it comes to getting Facebook viewers' attention. This should be decided by a board of professionals, not people deciding or figuring out on their own who they can get to donate to them.
