Mad Dog (I think the mad dog scene is in the book to show a flaw in Atticus, People of Maycomb used to call Atticus "Dead shot." there is a villain named dead shot who is a sniper who never misses , show Atticus's past, Scout wants to tell everyone at school how her father has the best shot in Maycomb, but Jem realizes that If he was proud of it he would have told them. And he says that to Scout. this really shows Jems maturity, "Come here," he said to Jem. "Don't you go near that dog, you understand? Don't go near him, he's just as dangerous dead as alive." (111), not proud of past, I wonder about how the mad dog connects to "madness" in general in the book/town, Jem became vaguely articulate: "'d you see him, Scout? 'd you see him just standin' there? . . . 'n' all of a sudden he just relaxed all over, an' it looked like that gun was a part of him . . . an' he did it so quick, like . . . I haft aim fro ten minutes 'fore I can hit something'. . . ." pg.111, Tim Johnson name)
