CONFORMITY

In The Giver conformity exists as 'Sameness'.

In Harrison Bergeron, conformity exists by the use of impairments in order to gain equality.

Everyone receives a bike at the age of Nine.

Everyone follows instructions that are heard from the Speaker.

Everyone attends the Ceremony of Twelve once a year.

Every family consists of a maximum of four people.

Old people who are no longer contributing to society go to the House of the Old.

Every household hasa copy of the Book of Rules

If twins exist, one is sent to be Released.

If you are more beautiful than another, you wear a mask.

If you are stronger than another, you wear weights.

If you speak well, you are given a stutter.

If you are intelligent, sounds are transmitted to stop your train of thought.

Music is played in an unfeeling way.

It's seen in the real world as socialism.

It's not really equity as it comes at a cost. - no freedom, no individuality, no love...

You can't fight it, so you accept it.

It's maintained by fear or ignorance of any better.
