Problem Statement

The success of this e-learning course has built up a good reputation. Many institutions have reserved places for their staff, and the long waiting list of potential students shows the course’s success, which ensures its sustainability.
-Justeru, terdapat keperluan bagi penilaian MOOC untuk kelestarian aplikasi MOOC pada masa hadapan.

MOOCs or Massive Online Open Courses based on Open Educational Resources (OER) might be one of the most versatile ways to offer access to quality education
-Namun, masih kurang kajian keperluan MOOC dalam peringkat pembelajaran khususnya dalam kursus Pendidikan Islam

Research Gap

So far, existing MOOC environments have shared little information on their usage patterns.

The field of education has been slow
to recognize both the impact of new learning tools and the environmental changes in
what it means to learn. Connectivism provides insight into learning skills and tasks
needed for learners to flourish in a digital era.

cth : Majlis Pelancaran Massive Open Online Courses (MOOC) UniSZA telah diadakan bersempena dengan majlis Soaring Upwards anjuran Kementerian Pendidikan Tinggi (KPT) pada 13 Februari 2016, di Dewan Perdana Universiti Sultan Zainal Abidin (UniSZA), Kampus Gong Badak dan telah dirasmikan oleh YAB Dato Seri Idris Jusoh. Pusat Kualiti Akademik dan e-Pembelajaran (AQeL), yang bertindak sebagai urusetia bagi Majlis Pelancaran MOOC, juga telah mengadakan demostrasi bagi tiga kursus MOOC UniSZA di booth pameran AQeL.


Tiga kursus yang bersedia ditawarkan secara MOOC adalah:


i. Agricultural Entrepreneurship yang diketuai oleh Prof. Madya Dr. Nalini A/P Arumugam daripada Fakulti Biosumber dan Industri Makanan (FBIM),


ii. Microeconomics, diketuai oleh Dr. Suraya Ismail daripada Fakulti Ekonomi,Perakaunan & Sains Pengurusan(FESP) dan


iii. Pengantar Ilmu Falak diketuai oleh Dr. Roslan Umar daripada Fakulti Pengajian Kontemporari Islam.

Pelan Pembangunan Pendidikan Malaysia (Pengajian Tinggi) telah menggariskan agar pembelajaran dalam talian dan blended learning sebagai asas kepada kurikulum, dengan memberi galakan agresif ke atas MOOC.

MOOC menggunakan sistem pengurusan pembelajaran atau Learning Management System (LMS) terkini. Pilihan program kursus juga berpelbagai.

MOOC diwujudkan pada tahun 2012 dan terdapat banyak kemunculan kursus online seperti COURSERA dan EDX. MOOC mengalami pertumbuhan yang sangat luar biasa hingga mencapai 327% dalam waktu satu tahun.

Another stated "this course was a waterfall and I only felt a few drops," expressing an additional sense of loss at being unable to interact with all the material" - Knox,2014
