As you read the module summaries, note that the course is structured with a very broad chronology, moving from the very beginnings of the universe to the problems of our current civilization, now and in the near future. Beyond this basic structure, the challenge of this course is for each of us to find ways our history can be linked together, to examine how the past influences the future, and to study how thought and innovation have developed over the millennia.
