before recievingbaptism, confirmation,
and Eucharist at once

You are reborn through Baptism, nothing remains that would keep them out of heaven and separated from God.

Baptism unites us with Christ

This is the idea of you die and rise with Christ because once you are baptised you are now in a sense one with Christ

We participate in both the death and resurrection of Christ when we are baptised

The grace of the Baptism leaves an indelliable mark on us meaning once baptized, the person is incorporated into Christ. The spiritual mark is sealed in a covenant with God. Due to this, no sin can ever erase our baptism.

The Necessity of Baptism

There are 2 exceptions to the rule that Baptism is necessary for Salvation

Simone Veil = someone who was very intelligent and strong in her faith, but did not want to be baptized because she believed it would separate her from the people she was called to serve. Does she qualify for the exceptions, and if not, does she still attain salvation?

Matthew

Ecumenical Aspect

Essential : water and trinitarian formula

People properly baptized into other denominations are validly baptized. They are in union with us, at least imperfectly.

•The baptism through the Holy Spirit is followed by an immersion of the repentant in the cleansing power of God
•The holy Spirit and fire are symbolize the same thing, the effect is either the purification of sin, or the destruction of the sin
(Mt 3:1-12)

When we are baptized, we are brought into the Church. Most perfect example of Trinitarian Formula. (Mt 28:19)

John 3:1-15, Mark 16:16, CCC 1257-1261, Matthew 28:19-20, Acts 2:37-38, 41

“It happened in those days that Jesus came from Nazareth of Galilee and was baptized in the Jordan by John. On coming up out of the water he saw the heavens being torn open and the Spirit, like a dove, descending upon him. And a voice came from the heavens, “You are my beloved Son; with you I am well pleased” (Mk 1:9-11)

The meaning of Baptism is to be brought into the Church so eventually we can go to Heaven

Christian initiation of infants begins with Baptism followed immediately by Confirmation and the Eucharist, kept them united, so Confirmation is conferred by the priest who baptizes.

“After all the people had been baptized and Jesus also had been baptized and was praying, heaven was opened and the Holy Spirit descended upon him in bodily form like a dove. And a voice came from heaven, “You are my beloved Son; with you I am well pleased.” (Lk 3:21-22)

Through Baptism, people are brought into the Church

followed by years of catechesis before being completed later by Confirmation and the Eucharist, the summit of their Christian initiation; desire to reserve the completion of Baptism to the bishop caused temporal separation of the two sacraments
